Annual Report

Thursday, March 11, 2004

This is the annual report, for the calendar year 2003, reflecting on the SGCAT programming, equipment, facilities and goals

1. Programming: Ste. Genevieve Community Access Programming can be divided into three areas: Public Access, Educational Access and Government Access. Most of our present programming falls into either the Public Access or Government Access categories.

The following list includes generally speaking programs that do not recur or are not contained in a series.

We do have several series running on the access channel.

For example our weekly cablecast of the Municipal Band is probably our longest running series. We have videotaped most of the concerts since the 1995 season and these concerts are aired weekly throughout the years. Each summer, the concerts are aired the week following each performance.

Here is the current line up of recurring programs:

Sundays: Hope Church, Music and the Spoken Word (featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir), Key to the Kingdom (Churches of Christ), First Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church.

Mondays: Capitol Dialogue and Legislative Update (during the Legislative sesssion), Perils for Pedestrians, Destination Tomorrow (NASA).

Tuesdays: Pure Heart, Clear Mind

Wednesdays: What is Scientology, The Know Drug Show, Businesswise, The First Alternative

Thursday: Municipal Band Concert

Friday: Missouri Outdoors (Mo Dept of Conservation), Independently Speaking, Access to Blue Grass

These shows are being aired under the public access designation because of requests from individual producers or others.

What follows is a list of one time events recorded for cablecast. The designation (s) means the tape was submitted to Ste. Genevieve Community Access Television. The (7) means it was produced by the channel staff.

The list was too long for inclusion here. See separate page.

2. Equipment:

During the year we were able to replace three of the playback VCRs with new units. We also purchased a new PC based bulletin board, and three other VCRS for use in production. A new weather radio was purchased which has the ability of putting weather alerts on screen automatically. A DVD player was purchased allowing us to use submitted DVDs.

3. Facilities:

Our downstairs facilities have been modified to create some extra room. The wall separating our control room from the adjacent old kitchen has been removed along with the sink, countertop and cabinets. This will permit the placing of a desk and the separation of the technical area from the business area of the channel.

4. Goals for 2004:

All cameras and VCRs will be cleaned and realligned professionally

The remote venues will be connected to the downstairs control room

The second channel will be placed in operation.

A second bulletin board will be established for the second channel.

The full capability of the PC based computer will be utilized (ie video images, audio inserts).

Two new volunteers will be recruited for videotaping and editing duties.

The new Ste. Genevieve Community Access Television truck will be decorated and put into service.

The wiring in the control room will be dressed up, individual cables will be identified and labeled.

Two new studios will be constructed in the basement of city hall, one using a panel discussion type format with a round or oval table, the other a more intimate living room style setting. Each will have its own lighting system and be capable of chroma key and rear projection.

A logo will be developed reflective on the SGCAT missions.

Programming submissions by outside individuals and organizations will be increased.

Fundraising efforts will continue to increase.
